A nomination for the modern qualification of today’s more-money-than-sense cunt, the Ph.D.

I was reading an article in The Economist about the oversupply of PhD students in America. 100,000 awarded each year for 16,000 academic positions. Not only that, but the financial benefits relative to a masters are almost none; you’ll spend a good 3-5 years longer researching but pay is only 2% higher.

Also, average pay of postdoctoral researchers in the UK is only £31k a year,, lower than most skilled tradesmen in their 20s who left school at 16.
This average includes those in fields like engineering and medical science. Many PhDs are used like temps to teach undergraduates for less than than a senior lecturer. There is no guarantee that those who manage to get their PhD are necessarily the brighest candidate; many are forced to drop out due to financial and family reasons . Those with a bit more initiative and savvy may take a job, realising their program isnt worth the time. Some are lumbered with poor supervisors.

There are are simply far too many overqualified people in the UK, US and Canada for the current jobs market and many are actually less productive in their jobs than those who hold lesser qualifications because they are dissatified with their lowly positions.

Another problem is PhDs are now increasingly specialised to the point of overspecialisation so there is no market for that knowledge, even in academia.

There is no doubt that this is true as the news and interviews are blatantly slanted in a pro-Chinese government way. Nevertheless, I don´t agree with this ban because I think people can make up their own minds and this will be shown in the station´s ratings anyway.

CGTN is making a big fuss and implying this move, which I don´t think most people even know about, is causing an international uproar. It recently devoted about 20 minutes to an “organization” called “No Cold War” which is against the ban and interviewed two talking heads, neither of whom I had heard of.

A visit to the “No Cold War” site confirms that it consists of the predictable bag of lefties and anti-imperialist windbags who would be among the first to be sent to a work camp in deepest Manchuria if they were ever to protest in China itself.

The first name on the individual list is Diane Abbott, who shares room with John Pilger, Janis Varoufakis and Ken Loach. Organizations include such well-known representative and democratic outfits as the Black Alliance for Peace, the Simon Bolívar Institute for Peace and Solidarity Among Peoples (Venezuela), the Coalition Against US Foreign Military Bases and the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples.

I may be a cunt, but I honestly believe not one of these man haters would’ve been out ‘reclaming the streets’ had the alleged killer been non-white.

I recall the murder of a very young girl of just 14. The prosecution alleged her remains were put into the kebab meat. There was evidence that this really was what happened. However, the grooming gang somehow got off and collected huge compensation cheques too. They are (allegedly) known to have bragged about this later…but they’re only joking, of course.

The family are still without closure. Officially, they do not know what happened to her. Unofficially, they have a very good fucking idea of the horrific truth.

Still, there are no protests here for this live case for some reason. Funny that, isn’t it?

I Nominate the Reclaim Our Streets campaign who defied the lockdown laws.

All decent folk are outraged by the murder of poor Sara Everard.

Especially as the.main suspect is a serving law officer sworn to protect the public.

There is still a culture of domestic violence towards women which 99.9% of men will abhor. The ROS movement seems to be linking the murder to this at one end with wolf whistles and lewd comments by louts at the other end.

Now, they seem to argue that the latter behaviour feeds into the general disrespect and objectification of women which leads to wife beating and ultimately murder.

I don’t buy this. Nor do I get what ROS are protesting about. How do they expect to make all areas 100% safe at night time? Through more legislation? Murder and violence already carry heavy sentences. But guess what, criminals tend to ignore laws. So do bent and perverted coppers. I heard one person (a man on R4) suggest a curfew for men after 9pm. Presumably that would change to 4pm in winter to ensure there are no men on the streets after dark. In fact it would ensure that only dodgy men are around

The modern way when something bad happens is for knee-jerk responses fed by mass hysteria on social and main stream media. Groups spring up demanding outrageous instant “solutions” to complex issues. It’s a 21st century version of the old “Something must be done!” mantra.

All politicians blather that the streets SHOULD be safe for women at all times. None of them will admit this is impossible to do.

The only one responsible for Sara’s death is her killer. It’s not me or you dear reader. He will be punished according to the law but this will not bring her back.

Men are not monsters. Some women are evil too.

Most random attacks
are actually on men.

Turning this tragedy into a condemnation of the male species will help nobody.
Least of all women.
