Firstly, if this odious cunt wants to voluntarily pay more tax no one is stopping him. Gary, here’s HMRC’s number, 0300 200 3300; they’ll be delighted to help you write out that cheque.
Secondly, this hypocritical turd was openly engaging in tax evasion during his tenure at the BBC, a fact that caused HMRC to take him to court for what they calculated was £4.9m in tax arrears. The judiciary being a communist fifth column, he got off on a technicality, and he certainly didn’t volunteer to hand over the £4.9m nonetheless.
Thirdly, if he can afford to pay more tax then that’s great, but the country can’t afford all of the wealth creators who invest, innovate, and generate prosperity, to be taxed to fuck. Left to their own devices, many of these people will create business, employment AND tax revenues, if incentivised to remain located in a supportive business environment. Tax them to fuck, and, unlike the rest of us, they can fuck off to a tropical island somewhere (as many of them are) and the treasury gets the square root of fuck all and the jobs that might have been aren’t.

I have a mate who’s reasonably wealthy, done well for himself – but man has he fucking worked for it; gave up most of his twenties to his job, spent his thirties when his kids were being born chained to his desk, still pulling the 70 hr weeks in his forties. His marginal rate of taxation two years ago was 60%, a sum that topped 7 figures.
And yet he keeps being told he needs “to pay his fair share”.
He would like to understand what his “fair share” is given he pays in one year what most people don’t even pay in their entire lifetimes.
