Paul Powlesland is the leader of a group of volunteers called the River Roding Trust.
Over a 10-day period, they cleared 200 bags of rubbish from a creek called Alders Brook. The EA has now sent Paul a notice informing him that he is under investigation for ” permitting and waste offences “, which could result in a 2 year prison sentence, if successfully prosecuted.
The EAs main complaint appears to be that the dredging was significant enough that it constitutes a flood risk.
Let me get this right. Ignoring numerous requests over a period of years for a clean up, and allowing the dumping of billions of litres of sewage by Thames Water and waste by fly-tipping criminals didn’t constitute a flood risk, but a 10-day clean up by volunteers did?
It’s true that no good deed goes unpunished, isn’t it? Especially by jobsworthy cunts ( looking at you, EA ).

The Environment Agency is staffed by fuckin morons.
The bloke was doing something that benefited the Environment, a green act,
and something that benefited everyone.
A selfless act.
Anyone with a modicum of commonsense can see that.
if they dont like it why didn’t they clear it themselves?
you know, seeing as it’s their jobs.
the useless pen pushing nazis.

A perfect example of the disaster that is an ever expanding, remorseless, unaccountable bloated bureaucracy.
The ever expanding Nanny State of Pen Pushing Cunts.
Waterlogged Oven.
Good morning.

i fuckin loathe the Environment Agency.
i loathe all government departments that sit on their arse and penalised anyone for the slightest infraction
cunts.
i mainly hate them because they take money out my pocket..
4
You would think they would be grateful. If like most government workers, it would give them more time to search online for colourful lanyards and chortle each other’s balls.

The EA is well known for being staffed by vindictive cunts. Once they are on your case they do not stop until you check out. Never mind, Angela Eagle will sort it….

My moron socialist, now dole scrounging, parasitical brother used to “work” for the environment agency until he retired at 35 for a career in rinsing the state for all the benefits he could get his hands on. That’s how I know the EA is full of cunts.
3
I hope they presented him with a carriage clock for his many years of loyal service.
And did they let him keep his lanyard as a memento?

WTAF? It’s about fucking time these fucking civil service cunts took a running jump at themselves. It seems thanking them rather than prosecuting seems to be in order.

One of those cases where you have to ask the question of the Environment agency, do you have the cojones to prosecute?
As JP states, there’s plenty of evidence that the EA regularly fails to carry out it’s remit so could the EA boss reasonably expect to go to court and come away with his / their reputation intact whether or not it’s successful in arguing it’s case.
I suppose a lot depends who any prosecution hearings are dealt by. If by jury then I’d say there’s a reasonable chance of defending any action if enough embarrassing mud is slung at the EAs known historical failures to enforce / prosecute big business. If the hearing is solely by judge / panel of “experts” I would be less confident as emotives wouldn’t work with them.
If the River Roding Trust is prosecuted and loses I suggest they remedy matters by restoring the river to it’s former state by simply chucking all the sh*t back in. After all that’s what the EA seem to want. Make it their problem again.

There will be no prosecution as the EA did a U turn.
The place must be staffed by lazy cunts who see their job as passing restrictions and fining people rather than organisation.
Instead of sending a few staff from their offices to to help and advise they decide to send a threatening letter.
They should have provided rubbish bags and the disposal of all crap that was dragged out of the stagnant river, They should have put out a call for extra volunteers and given advice on how not to disturb the wildlife.
Perhaps handed out the obligatory hi-viz jackets for the volunteers and organised a catering van for refreshments.
But no, they sent a notice of prosecution.
Fucking cunts.
