Dead Pool [393]

Congratulations to Geordie Twatt who predicted the sad passing of Kevin Keegan, aged 75.

An absolute legend of the game who played for some top teams including Hamburg and Newcastle. He also played for Liverpool. His successful management career saw him take charge of Newcastle, Fulham, England and Manchester City. Twice a Ballon d’Or winner, superb striker and all round, a top passionate bloke. Truly one of the greats. RIP King Kev.

That’s one DP I’d rather not have won.
    Well played KK.

    • poor Kev.

he sold a couple of million home perm kits on Merseyside.

and Brut was the most shoplifted aftershave in Liverpool .

      • The only defender I ever saw who could mark Keegan successfully was Martin Buchan. Kevin himself also admitted this was the case. In his Hamburg days, Kevin turned the great Berti Vogts inside out. Yes, a prime era Keegan was that good.

Had a 1980 era Keggy been in that side vs the Dirty Argies instead of Whale Tongue or Lord Bellendham, who knows how that World Cup campaign would have ended….

  5. RIP Kev.

  8. Met Kevin when he was Manchester City manager. A very nice bloke.
A star of a player too. Unlike a good few cunts now, you could see playing for England meant everything to him. Also admired his guts. When he faced down the hordes of Newcastle fans in person after selling that miserable twat Andy ‘call me Andrew’ Cole to Manchester United. Even his anti-Fergie outburst on Sky showed his love for the game. Always a fighter.

Even his part in the 1982 World Cup song ‘This Time (We’ll Get It Right)’ was sung with his customary English passion and gutso. RIP Keggy, the Fledermaus.

  9. I always thought Bobby Robson disposed of Kevin too early.
He would have been 35 at Mexico 86. But, that experience was much needed in the Azteca, with Diego Maradona at the height of his powers. Would Kevin have been worse than than Peter Steptoe Reid? I doubt that very much.

Also, England’s failure to even qualify for Euro 84, while Keegan was having an Indian Summer at Newcastle United stuck out like a sore knob.
