Not in my lifetime have I seen a political party in opposition for so long and when they finally do gain power, show themselves to be completely incompetent, bereft of good ideas and common sense and give every indication of actually working against the country they are supposed to be governing.
Just the optics of one in – one out is bad for two reasons (at least). First, one in and one out would mean the total already in doesn’t change. Second, another one is coming in and costing the tax payer regardless.
How about mass deportations?
How about refusing entry to anyone who :
– does not have official travel documentation;
– has no way of being identified;
– has not arrived through an official port of entry;
– has not arrived directly from a war torn/persecuting region;
Without enforced borders, you have no country.

That said, your point is well made. People who have chosen to have a family are obviously invested (literally) in the success and happiness of their children. As they should be. I’d imagine parents would also want not just the best for their children, but better than what they had. The way things are going, that’s just not going to happen. So I’d imagine your fear for your daughter’s future is very real, very scary and absolutely gut wrenching.
I sympathise. I honestly do. I wish you, your daughter and the grown up sons & daughters of all the cunters here peace, health, prosperity and a wide berth from the virus that’s infecting our once great land.
