Any alleged pros are debatable at best, but I believe it’s fair to say the overall net effect is negative for the host country.
Change over time is of course inevitable. Small incremental changes over a number of years tend not to be alarming or overly disruptive. The time factor allows for planning and sustainability. However, huge numbers of immigrants forcing their way into a country illegally in a compressed timeframe is unsustainable. No civilised country on Earth can accommodate that.
