The patient was left in “uncontrollable pain” and could have died but for another surgeon correcting the error in a second operation, the misconduct hearing, sitting in Manchester, was told.”

Rahman, who qualified in 1993 from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, did not attend the hearing and was not legally represented.
He claimed he had been made a “scapegoat” after a “witch hunt” following the operation, carried out at the Royal Oldham Hospital, where he was working as a locum on 25 August 2020.”

Not having had an operation for donkey’s years, can any cunter inform me of the following?
Do you get to meet your surgeon before the operation to make sure he’s not an Um Bongo or a sand-dweller of any kind who obtained his degree by printing out a certificate and then hopped on a dinghy?

I don’t know if it applies in this area Jeezum but a well known problem in commercial aviation is the rigid hierarchy that pertains in large parts of the Far East. Airliners have been crashed when the captain has made a fatal error and the copilot was afraid to point it out.

Well I don’t get it. An incompetent surgeon performs what is effectively GBH on his patient, & all that happens is he gets stuck off to go & probably carry on somwhere else. This goes on all the time. It reminds me of “Trust the Trader” for some reason.
