There’s been a lot of press about the strength of our armed forces, and it’s ability to defend us, but worry not folk.
There’s a cunning plan!
The Government has confirmed it is planning to call up retired troops as part of major drills testing the countrys resilience for war.
The exercise involving veterans up to the age of 65 is set to take place next year, with the focus on testing how successfully they can be mobilised and equipped.
There’s just one teeny problem. According to former Defence Secretary George Robertson, co-author of the Strategic Defence Review, the MOD doesn’t know where most of them are!
Try going round town and city centres at night, George, and checking out bus shelters, doorways and railway arches.
You’ll find a good few of them are homeless. No HMOs or 4 star hotels for far too many of our veterans, it’s “here’s your demob suit and travel warrant, now fuck off ” for far too many of them.
