New and Improved

I discovered these words in the top left hand corner whilst struggling to open a box of Ty.Phoo teabags. Highlighted in a bright yellow against the predominantly red and white background, so you were absolutely certain to see it.

Two questions.

How do you improve something that’s new?

Who the fuck falls for this shit?

” The phrase “new and improved” is a classic marketing slogan meant to trigger fast, emotional thinking and signal innovation. In reality, it often means an existing product has a minor tweak, a packaging redesign, or simply needs a psychological refresh to capture attention in a crowded market, rather than representing a revolutionary change. Why Marketers Use ItInstant Appeal: It uses positive phrasing to make buyers feel they are getting a superior, updated choice.Re-engagement: It wakes up consumers who have grown blind or indifferent to older product labels.Justifying Changes: It is frequently applied when formulas, sizes, or designs change—sometimes even when package sizes shrink while prices stay the same.”

I don’t have a link, as such, but this is copied from Google question”what does new and improved mean”
I find the end of the explanation very enlightening, especially with regards to confectionery that is marketed as “snack size” .
As opposed to what? Three-course dinner size?

New and improved teabags, FFS.
Ty.Phoo are cunts.

  1. The Smiths album Meat is Murder didnt contain any meat.
    not a sausage.

you’d think it’d be a savvy marketing tactic to pop a rasher of bacon or slice of ham in each album?

    free gift sort of thing.
fans could wear it on their lapels.

That’s just how shortsighted people are when it comes to publicity.

    even put e

    • No but I don’t think it would have mattered if they had as we’re still waiting for an update on Eddie Richardsons death 12 days ago. Shaun must be busy again.

    • To honour Tim Curry, I’m going to have a wank dressed up in fishnet stockings.
That I definitely ̲𝙝̲𝙖̲𝙫̲𝙚̲𝙣̲’̲𝙩 been wearing all day.

    • They must be pissed off that their arrival has been overshadowed by the floods in Nepal and the deaths of Dolly Parton and Tim Curry.

  2. On the subject of confectionary, as I am a loving parent/grandparent, and as my little flock of Lasses and their partners are absolute gannets for anything covered in chocolate, I have a snack tray in the kitchen.

I put out bars of things such as Mars and Toffee Crisp bars, and visitors are welcome to help theirselves.

It’s to stop the Berserker raiding my cupboards and snaffling the good stuff, like the Lily O’Briens and Lindt.

I’ve noticed the “snack size” becoming more prevalent lately, but the difference between the normal size ( which aren’t exactly huge ) and snack size makes me embarrassed to offer them to guests.

Just put the fucking price up, you cunts.
    Oh wait, you already did!

At this rate, they’ll be calling those fun size ( one bite ) things snack size next. I can’t imagine how they can get any smaller.

    • Fun size?

      maybe if your Danny deVito.
      i dont find it fun.

      shrinkage.

years ago when hiking id buy a bottle of Lucozade and a xl mars bar.
      remember them?
      massive.

its be a decent sugar rush and id be good to go again.

That toilet trader Blair put a stop to them, egged on by that spitty cunt Jamie Oliver.
      child obesity.
therein making life hard for chubby toddlers.

      They cant smoke
      drink alcohol
      or watch porn.

they only had mars bars and you ruined that for them you cruel cunts.

      • They call it shrinkflation, Mis, like it’s some schoolboy jolly jape.

Oh, fooled you! Well, that’s shrinkflation for you, ha ha ha. ”

Just fuck off! When a Mars bar is 40g, and a snack size is about 32g, that’s almost a quarter. They are literally two meager bites, not that a 40g Mars is much more, and there’s often little price difference between them.

I loath and detest these companies, just fucking stop it! Price gouging at it’s finest, is what it is.

I blame Jamie fucking whale tongue lisping cunt Oliver.

  3. Sorry to go OT but I’m fucking annoyed. Yes again. Just watched a Labour MP on the telly, fucking minister for unicorns or something, explaining that the problem with the price of gas in this country is down to us being dependent on imported gas and the price rise due to the altercation between the Yanks and the sand n*ggers in the middle east. FFS you stupid cow, ask Jackdaw to turn on the tap.

Related, can anyone explain to me the “price cap” because in the small print it’s always hedged around with a statement that I may pay more anyway. Perhaps it’s just that I’m thick.

    • Thinking further I suspect the price cap waffle comes from the same mentality whre the telly measures area in football pitches and Thames Water tell me my water consunption in cups of tea equivalent.

    • Arfur, in the Daily Suppress today, energy price cap set to rise in October.

Oh goody, just as the cold weather starts, and darker mornings, early nights.

This price cap, incidentally, is only fixed for 3 months, so look forward to another in January, and that’s after the new bloodsuckers first Budget.

I can hardly wait, to decide if suicide really is painless.

    • Don’t ever apologise for going OT on one of my noms.

I try to word them so there are potential tangents for people to follow.

This is a place where diversity is our entertainment.

  4. And I’m probably going to get my arse smacked by Admin for saying that.

    Sorry, Admin.
I do agree that folk really should try to stay on topic, but sometimes the subject allows a ramble.

I, personally, enjoy the insight into contributors minds, things that mither, they often make me laugh, regularly encourage further dialog and almost always make me laugh.

W.C. Boggs gets a special mention, as do LL, Thomas and, of course, Mis.

  5. im the same.
Not offended if my nom goes off topic.

    im not that easily offended.
fuck me, i dont run crying and lock myself in the bathroom.

To be honest i struggle to stay on topic.
so hardly arsed if someone else does it.

      • JP mentioned earlier about struggling to get into packaging with his tea bags – don’t get between a Yorkshireman and his gagging for a brew. Maybe a future cunting for unnecessary packaging?

      • There’s going to be a tax, so I read some time ago, on companies that use unnecessary packaging.

Obviously, they will pass any price increase onto the end user.

Amazon, take note. My tiny plastic bottle doesn’t need a crate sized box with bubble wrap.

      • I believe I wrote a nom at the time it was announced.

I think I included something about corned beef being in a more sympathetic packaging, IE, less likely to cause a severe gash to a finger

    • Slightly off topic but how are those cream gates faring in this half decent summer were having I trust the paint hasn;t flaked to badly.

  6. That key on a tin of corn beef,
    who thought that up?!
    Harvey price?

    useless.
    i use a tin opener,
    fuck messing about with that.
