We had, like most other towns, a youth club back in the 70s and 80s, and like, I suspect, most others, it was a no go zone if you weren’t in with the heavies who, invariably, took it over as their own personal fiefdom.
So most of the young people of my generation just did whatever we did to keep us occupied.
I don’t recall anyone being stabbed, blown up, shot or having a car driven into them on the pavement.
