Upon first reading I couldn’t see the difference, it seemed equivalent to this idea that “person of colour” is fine but “coloured person” is strictly verboten. I then worked it out. The first sentence is straightforward, he is a terrorist. The second sentence leaves room for a miscarriage of justice or better still, he has repented and is now an upstanding member of society. I must cancel the TV licence.
As for those beards in the photos. I have nothing against beards but personally I prefer to be clean shaven. For one thing if you are a little runt like me having a beard and driving an SUV always risks you being seen as a victim of small man syndrome and I couldn’t live with being put in a group with Suckdick Khan. However we once had an old rug in the shed which the cats shat and pissed upon from time to time. Eventually it became offensive and I threw it out. At that point it looked better cared for and more attractive than their beards.

Let’s face it. The slippery path to this dangerous individual’s freedom began with the original sentencing.
A recommendation of 11 years for such an offence was always bordering on leniency, and left a loophole that his lawyers would be itching to exploit whilst he was still a relatively young man.
If they really are classified as British (an assumption and phrase I despise) they had committed an act of treason.
Therefore, a life sentence should have been given.
It certainly would have been given if they were found guilty of a right wing terrorist plot.
