Does anyone remember a news item regarding the proposal to bring 50 severely injured Gazan children, along with their immediate families, to the UK to be treated by the NHS?
I seem to remember comments on here about why here? What about other countries? In the interest of fairness, I did some quick research, and according to a BMJ article Italy, Spain, Norway, USA, UAE and Qatar are also offering medical treatment.
Then the story seem to die a death until I saw this BBC news item.
So, Prince William went to visit ” a number of children from Gaza receiving treatment in a NHS hospital”
The article goes on to say ” as of 21st November, 50 children are receiving treatment in surroundings that are safe and welcoming “. Of course, their families are with them, too.

As a footnote, has anyone else noticed that almost every BBC news report that mentions Palestine has the following two paragraphs tacked on to the end ?

Morning Thomas, the particular beef I have with junior doctors is they each cost £1 million to train, their career trajectory more or less guarantees them high six figure incomes within ten years of qualifying, and a large proportion of them fuck off overseas and we never feel the “benefit”.
The sanctimonious cunts seem to think they should be able to take all of the above, and then waltz straight into a top salary position, and not have to learn the ropes in the world of work like the rest of us and experience the feeling of starting at the bottom and working their way up (which in their case doesn’t take very long).

How about looking at this from a different perspective.
My wife worked as a GP, part time. The thing is she was supposed to work 8 hours per day for two days. No, this was more like 14 hours, so 28 hours per week. Sorry, forgot to mention that the practice routinely filled her work rota with patients during her non-work days so she was working 5 hours per day, writing referrals and letters for the remaining 3 days and then another 8 hours to clear the remaining backlog at weekends.
So she was being paid two days work for 51 hours of work. Below minimum wage, which is not legal but the practices get away with it. Would any commentators from these hallowed pages take on a job like this. I fucking think not.
These are the ‘lucky’ ones who can find a job. Many GP jobs are now given to Physician’s Associates – not qualified to do the job. A bit like sticking a bus driver in a cockpit to fly you to your holiday destination. With training they will ‘get by’, but just wait for an emergency…
I wouldn’t be a doctor in the UK for all the tea in China.
