    Don’t make this loss about race and woke; there’s enough of that bollox from the leftists. For once England got to an important final and it was close enough to go to penalty shoot out. Penalty shoot outs are crap but that’s the rules.

  5. Whatever England had going for them in the first half, they left it behind in the dressing room when they came out for the second. They looked shagged, but Italy didn’t, although they’d played the same number of games. They took over and ran us ragged. Their goal was lucky but they were the best team.
    Sterling did his usual, running into trouble and losing the ball, then falling on the floor. He is such an irritating twat. Rashford deserves to be be reminded about that penalty for the rest of his life. The other two who missed were pathetic. When Saka stepped up I thought he must know how to take a spot kick because he’s useless at everything else.
    Southgate doesn’t escape criticism either, bringing on those two so late in injury time just to take penalties before they’d had a kick. Maybe give them a few minutes to warm up next time, eh Gareth?

    Sunday night is a shitty night to host a major final. Can’t get bladdered too much because of work the next day, and for those living in the far East/Oz/NZ, it’s on far too late or when they’re setting off for work on a Monday morning. It also stood a clamour for a bank holiday if they win (really an excuse for a day off because hung over) and would stop millions of sick notes (there will be fucking millions in both Italy and England).

    They should always put major finals on on a Saturday, the fucking dozy pricks. They started doing it with the Champions League final, which proved popular and lucrative, but seem to have forgotten it for this tournament.

    • That’s what they do for the Copa America, the South American tournament. They play the World Cup Third Place match on a Saturday. Just play the Final four hours later.

  21. A pretty pisspoor tournament quite frankly, and England flattered to deceive with some pretty pedestrian football against ageing opposition or teams that were as equally as average as England.

    Southgate’s tactics were all over the place in most of those games, getting away with good fortune in terms of penalties and resilient goalkeeping. But sticking to the same players throughout was totally uninspiring and baffling, while the likes of Grealish and Fadon spent most of their time keeping the bench warm.

    Last night proved how naive Southgate and his assistants were with some shite substitutions and awful tactics and formations, with a midfield overwhelmed and offering little or no service to the forwards.

    Kane was AWOL, and Sterling was back to using usual diving self but the ref could see straight through that and ignored the cunt.

    Wokegate then makes more subs in the last couple of minutes of extra time probably because of the penalty shootout, but neither players had time to warm up or even get a proper touch before the final whistle went.

    As for the penalties themselves. Whoever the penalty coach is in the England squad should be fucking sacked! Rashford was a fucking idiot the way he “tippy-toed” the run up to his pen and ultimately fucking it up!

    All that fancy stuff looks great when it works, but you look like a right cunt when you fuck up. And showboating in the most important game of your life is definitely not the way to win things!

    And then asking a 19 year old kid in Saka to take a pen with the whole nation watching him, was also a dumb decision on Southgate. I felt sympathy for Saka and I don’t blame him for crying afterwards. But come on, a player with far more experience should have stepped up instead.

    This was probably England’s best chance to win something in 55 years, especially with home-advantage for nearly all of their games. And yet it was fucked up by the genius that is Southgate and his over-cautious conservative management skills.
