Hello fellow cunters,
I am sure there are other people other than just me that are curious about psychology – what makes people tick and their behaviour and all that. Well, I used to find that kind of thing very interesting… that is, until I started volunteer work in a holiday park/campsite in the holiday sector in Cornwall. Now, I have seen it all:
1) People not paying for electricity and then trying to use it on the quiet in the hope that you don’t notice. Some twat thought it was acceptable to charge his electric car on a 16A electrical connection meant solely for tents/caravans.
2) Vandalising: we have had toilet doors kicked-in, showers broken, windows smashed – you name it, it has happened. Some dickhead thought it was funny to unscrew (yes, they had to use their own screwdriver) one of the coat pegs in the shower rooms and then dump it in a nearby bin. Asshat.
3) Thievery: the occasional towel being nicked sounds normal for some places, but then you have to add remote controls, cutlery (not just one knife, but the whole fucking set), kitchen appliances, TV’s…
4) Attitude problem: People talk to you sometimes like you are a piece of crap that are just there purely to service them. They have zero thought and respect for you whatsoever.
5) Kids: they annoy the fuck out of you sometimes. They are rude, leave their litter everywhere, spill drinks/food over the floor and just leave it there, throw things around, break things, nick things.
There are terms and conditions specifying that parents supervise their kids in certain areas, however they NEVER do. The kids run wild and the lazy feckless parents are too busy sat on their arses in deckchairs talking, getting drunk and watching Netflix or YouTube. The staff all have 101 other things to do and babysitting their bastard offspring is not supposed to be one of them.
Not everyone is bad of course, sometimes you meet some genuinely nice and friendly people who make your day and put a smile on your face. Sadly they are few and far between these days.
You also get stupid/funny stuff happen that make you laugh too of course – I shall share one incident with you all: one family, who had never been camping before, came to stay for a week in a tent pitch.
They arrived in the evening and spent hours putting their tent up. The following morning when we were going around the site doing a spot-check we noticed that their tent was gone – at first we thought they had left early for some reason, but no, they came back that evening and starting putting their tent back up again.
We asked them why they took their tent with them, as it would be a proper ballache to keep putting it up and down each day? Their reply: “Oh, you mean we can leave it up? We thought we had to take it down each morning and take it with us when we went out somewhere”. We all had a good chuckle about that one.
But basically the long and short is: manners, respect and having a nice attitude seems to have gone out of the window these days. The kids are terrible but sometimes the parents can be worse. Either way, they are all cunts.
