Based on the experiment of the past 60 years, is it fair to say that black people haven’t integrated very well into British society? I am undecided.
I notice that they make a disproportionate contribution towards certain types of crime. A disproportionate number are in the prison system, despite the policies intended to give them special consideration. That educational attainment is poor, despite the efforts made to lower standards and compensate for certain ‘disadvantages’ – to do with a racist society of course, not the shortcomings of the people themselves. That discrimination is needed to help them find training and employment opportunities.
And after all the effort, money spent and screwing things up for everybody else, stories like the one in the nomination, and many more besides which even a bent media cannot conceal entirely, keep appearing. It is always the fault of society. Individual agency and responsibility… Well, that’s a grey area, although it is taboo to mention it or ask awkward questions. You can be a Nobel prize winning geneticist and be cancelled for doing that. What hope for the average managerial bureaucrat or man on the street?
The experiment carries on and is intensified. Reality, facts and thinking are out of bounds. Rational action to remedy the situation is impossible. We are expected to keep watching a group of idiots busily create our own societal funeral pyre, and say nothing. Even to nod in agreement and join in.
