Congratulations to Lord Biryani who has won Dead Pool 337 by picking the veteran voice actress from the Archers June Spencer who has died at the ripe old age of 105 following a 79 long career .Spencer was the last original cast member of the Archers first appearing in the Pilot in 1950 and then from the Shows continuous start on New Years Day 1951.She appeared in the show on and off (but mostly on) over 72 years until retiring in 2022 aged 103 when she moved into a care home.She played former Landlady and former Socialist turned fierce Social Conservative Peggy Woolley (formerly Peggy Archer) for most of that time however had a 9 year break when she had children and her role was taken over by the late Thelma Rogers however Spencer returned to the role in 1962 for another 50 years.She played voiced Rita Flynn however during some of those years on the Programme. She is survived by her family who announced she died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of this morning.Current editor of The Archers Jeremy Howe described her today as “The Queen of Ambridge” following news of her death.
