I recall a time when tens if not hundreds of thousands took to the streets in opposition to the Iraq war I recall also the “project fear” that uncle Tony and his experts forecast would befall us if we did not invade. Nuclear missiles would arrive over London within 20 minutes of being fired from Baghdad. Chemical weapons would also be delivered by missile, tens of thousands would be murdered by the regime as we hesitated, and the world would descend into chaos.
What did happen of course was entirely different. Chemical attacks never materialised, and the nuclear preemptive strike failed miserably , In other words , it was all bullshit. I recall that house prices remained stable, and the pound held its value.
What did happen of course, was hundreds of thousands died, billions were spent, and chaos ensued as it is still today. Nothing good came out of it.
