Scottish Power is a cunt. In the days of energy billing companies going bust this fucker keeps on going and is getting more bad press than ever. They have been using strong arm tactics for debt collection, fining people who have never been Scottish Power Customers and generally fucking things up:

We were a Scottish Power Customer until 2016 or so when they moved to a new IT system which would not accept our meter readings online because 2 digits of the meter number had been transposed possibly during the initial onboarding or by a numerically dyslexic meter reader. It took a year to get it sorted out when we finally switched to Sainsbury’s Energy at the time who used the correct meter number instantly. No blaming “Scotia Networks” from them. Over the top charges for a year with no compensation and no apology. The cunts.
Let’s not beat about the bush here and name the bastards. The cunts that read the meters are Morrison’s Data Services. Morrison’s Data Services are bunch of fools who have now ventured into laying cables for telecoms companies through their M-Power group since smart meters made most of their employees redundant. Anyway I digress.
Back to SP. This Spanish owned outfit should be broken up, not allowed to take on new customers, not given any state support until they get their fucking act together. This is not a new thing. They’ve been fucked up for the last 7 years to my knowledge. They are now picking on people who haven’t even been their customers.

I used to work as a utilities broker – British Gas are the most evil, immoral people I have ever had the displeasure to know – they were so much like a Mafia (and I use those strong words advisedly) we were, off the record, advised not to place businesses with them, which I agreed with as I refuse to rip people off.
A few big corporates run the energy industry, they are in cahoots with the politicians and do what the hell they please.
I was with Robin Hood Energy, a charitable offshoot of Nottinghamshire Council, but they went bust and I was transferred – without my knowledge and against my will – to Powergen (terrible company BTW), so I went with Octopus Energy – good service, cheap prices and highly recommended.

My nemesis was EON, had a couple of battles with the cunts, got there in the end, an email to the CEO always does the trick.
During the first battle I got a letter from a debt collection agency, the wording of my correspondence ensured I never heard from the debt collector ever again.

Fortunately I’ve never been with SP, thank fuck. I use OVO, one of the best in my humble opinion. I get 5% interest on any amount in credit, I’m on the lowest tariff, and I’m still £1537.00 in credit 😁, mainly because I don’t waste energy, but more likely that my central heating is fuelled with wood.
I saw all this fuel prices hiking coming, all the GW bullshit around 10 years ago, so decided that at least when the shit hits the fan, I’d have heating and hot water. Ok, it’s a pain in the arse sometimes, if I go away in winter, I have to build a fire instead of using technology. I wouldn’t ever go back to gas heating, mainly because I’m a pyromaniac cunt and like nothing more than setting fire, lovely jubbly.

I’ve got to say I switched earlier last year to Octopus, and so far I’m quite happy. I moved from E-On, who decided to punish me for opting for 3 year fixed rate in 2018 by offering me zero choice, this is it, they said! A 35% increase.
Well fuck that, I thought. My neighbour sent me a link, I did the research, switched and we both got a £50 signing bonus.
