PSD2 – Secondary Card Purchase Authority

What an absolute cunt rule the EU foisted on us with this one!

You might have come across it. The EU, in their infinite all knowing god-like wisdom decreed from the ivory tower that is Brussels that the plebeians all across their jurisdiction needed more protection from financial fraud. Their gift to us all: PSD2, a rule that the security number on the back of a credit card won’t suffice and that a secondary security method must be added.

However, a bit like their equally cuntish “cookies policy”, there is no specific implementation detail. Some financial firms are better than others in the implementation. Unfortunately, there seems to be little option for me but to continue dealing with some of those that have made a pigs ear out of it. Like a site where it could take you ten minutes to “get rid of the cookie bollocks”, as opposed to others where a simple mouse click makes it go away, some financial firms have made PSD2 excruciatingly painful.

So what does a “good firm do”? They ask how you would like the secondary PIN – via email, landline or mobile. Most of the firms I am stuck with though insist on mobile only and, when I’m at home “Internet Shopping” I have no frigging mobile signal. “We are texting you a PIN and valid for 5 minutes”: shoes on, run up the lane waving mobile above my head like a lunatic hoping to catch a bit of a signal, text drops in, run home, shoes off and rush to key the code in, out of breath but 30 seconds to spare – swear about the bl**dy, f**king, w@**ing, cunts that are the EU ….and relax!

PSD2 is a cunt but like the cookie law, and countless other EU sh1te that I voted to get binned, BRINO ain’t going to get rid of it any time soon!

    • Exactly wokeupcunt, dreaming up new rules and regulations is what unelected and elected socialists megalomaniacs do. Loads of bullshit. Put the cunts to work cleaning the streets.

      • Oh we will be. Sooner than anyone thinks.

However, Trump’s ‘Office Of The Former President’ is an absolutely brilliant strategic move. Let’s see what grows out of it.

  1. I don’t know about this pen pushing shite but I’d welcome a law that gives you the option to opt in for cookies rather than the layers of bollocks required to opt out.
It’s the online equivalent of junk mail, but I can put junk mail into the bin or, as I prefer, back into the cunting post box so the junk mailers can sort there own shite out.
    That’ll learn ’em.

  2. So we’re still subject to EU laws and rules.

    Quelle surprise.

    £39 billion well spent.

Never mind, at least our fishermen and the fish are happy. Sorry, what’s that you say…..?

    • This is just one example from 4,283 “implemented EU obligations”.

What’s the betting the “wrongly bent bananas” one will still be in there too?

  3. Havent come across this yet but I have the same mobile signal problem so dont use or buy from cunts wanting a mobile number.

  4. From a techie pov this is going to cause all manner of issues for users, and just adds an extra layer of bullshit to an already over-engineered approach to ecommerce security.

Moreover, this continued push for a cashless society must come into doubt after the recent issues with shoppers at the Co-op and Morrisons trying to make payments electronically but failing to do so due to “technical issues” with the card payment provider, ACI.

As a consequence people have to pay by cash or not at all. Which pissed off an awful lot of people!

But people who support cashless will just say “this was just a one off. Cashless is still the way to go!”

    Fuck off!

  5. This isn’t a bad idea even though a massive inconvenience but and it’s a big but, fraudsters are now exploiting the crap security applied by mobile companies, transferring your number to a sim in their possession and bang their into your account.

No joined up thinking from the EU, I expect the EU originally wanted the banks to issue Authenticator tokens but the banks said fuck that, that would cost us a lot more money, an SMS to the customers mobile will suffice.

Ok said the EU, let’s all go drink some taxpayer funded champers with a 3 star meal and the accommodation is on us(well the taxpayers anyway) Muha ha ha.

  6. Funny thing is, I have an app that will decrypt secure cookies, which I can then C&P into Notepad++ and read the contents.

Up until about 2 years ago browsers used to store in the “History” your bank account and pin number. However, when you went into your history the data would be encrypted, but extremely weak encryption at that – hence my app!

The need for second or even third tiered authentication is a definite must, especially if people are still using old versions of Android (version 9.0 Pie, in particular)

  7. mikdys: Not sure if such equipment is available to you, but here’s an idea which might help you.

Where I lived a few years ago, I had very low cell ‘phone signal strength. Not enough to be useful anyway. My cell ‘phone provider at the time sold a device which plugged into my wireless router/network switch and used the internet to create a mini cell ‘phone tower in my home. It was the size of a 300 page hardback book with a couple of little aerials. Worked great. Not sure what it was called. Perhaps “repeater” or “mini-tower” something like that. I had to pay for it, but at least it solved the problem. 5 bars at home! Maybe check if there’s something similar available to you.

    Cheers – IY.

    • @ I Y

Thanks for the idea but I’ve been there before and the devices (Vodafone Sure Signal) burnt out regularly the day after they were out of warranty. I kid you not. I wouldn’t be surprised if they aren’t designed to do this!

I decided not to throw any more money at it and put mobile calls on my landline inclusive tariff so I can phone mobiles at least without paying stupid charges. I can also use FaceTime/iMessage and WhatsApp on my mobile, via the Internet, so everything works out OK apart from this stupid PSD2 thing.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway 🙂

      • BTW a friend of mine has the latest Vodaphone setup, to overcome lack of signal and connected via the Internet, but it doesn’t support text messages!

      • Vodafone are a bit cunty if I recall. Glad you have some kind of workaround though.

Was just looking at mobile ‘phone offerings in the UK. Bloody hell things have changed. I used Orange when I left the UK. What happened to them? Choices used to be Orange, Vodaphone, Cellnet, One2One and Virgin Mobile (I think). That was about it. What the F happened?

Remember when mobile phones first got going and you could only text someone on your own network? Seems funny now.

  8. I’m the same,Mikdys.

“Verified by Visa” indeed….I’ve told the Cunts numerous times that I don’t get a get a mobile signal when at home and to send it e-mail…makes no difference, every so often I get the same “we are sending a code to your mobile” shite…does my fucking head in.

    Bunch of utter Cunts.

    • How do you plan to defend your estate Dick? After all, “You’ll own nothing and be happy”.
