The BBC news website carries this headline and goes on to discuss a load of balls produced by academics including Professor Pat Thane and another academic from our favourite university, Queen Mary College.

Hull ,Coventry and Portsmouth are cited as cities which were heavily bombed and today have high levels of social deprivation which have existed since before WW2. The attempted correlation between current urban deprivation and the number of bombs dropped is absolute bollocks. There is no mention of the most heavily bombed city ,London, presumably because it does not fit the warped model.

The cities subjected to the blitz were military and strategic targets. Coventry, Derby etc were major engineering centres which enjoyed high wages relative to the rest of the country; this continued in Coventry until the 1970s and still have exists in Derby.

Today , declining seaside towns such as Blackpool, Skegness, Hastings etc have high levels of deprivation ; I do not think that they were Luftwaffe targets.

It is so disappointing that alleged academics can produce such tosh. It is little wonder that students such duds if they have to listen such ‘experts’.

    Sure, it has some grotty areas, just like every single town and city in the UK (and, probably, the whole world), but they exist mainly because of the low quality scum that breed and live there. I know. I have been to Portsmouth many times.

Buried in the article the report mentions the “eligibility for fee school meals” when describing what constitutes a deprived area and in the current climate there is no passing bandwagon so-called experts wont jump on, even one 75 years ago. I suppose it begs the question how are communities in Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Dresden and countless other bombed cities doing?

  9. There is no such thing as shit places, just shit people. You could transport all these deprived people to a tidy affluent area and they would turn it into a shithole in days. Good hardworking tidy people have pride, so no matter what they have, it will be looked after. If you are given something for nothing, it means nothing, wether it’s a hamburger or a house. If you’ve never worked, how can you know the value of anything?
    When these places were bombed by the Luftwaffe, the people who lived there knew what actual poverty was, and they were out in the streets clearing up the rubble, and making the best of it. Now scum can’t even put their McDonald’s litter in the bin, and there are needles and beercans everywhere.
    Obviously this professor bint hasn’t been anywhere near these shit holes,or if she has, she’s keeping schtum, as telling uncomfortable truths doesn’t get you lots of research grants.

      • Two years of working for the local authorities housing services confirmed my prejudices. And, it’s not like I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, not even a wooden chip fork. I know a few people who are just getting by, and skint as they are, they still have pride in their home and their area, and the little they have is theirs through graft.
        Owen Jones wrote a book called Chavs; the demonisation of the working class, and it was so far from the mark, it was obvious he doesn’t live among the cunts. The cunt.

    • The points you make are largely irrefutable and extremely well made. For example, Berchtesgaden cannot help being one of the most stunningly beautiful locations on Earth, but was once swarming with chaps who almost elevated purest Cuntery into an art form. The locals are still weird even now: pisspots in the Schloßplatz before noon a bit of a worry.
      You’ve obviously never had the misfortune of spending time in Chongqing, however. A more desperately depressing shit hole on a vast scale would for me be hard to imagine. The locals are miserable too – in stark contrast to Beijing, Shanghai (even Wuhan though similar is actually OK)… though I’ve heard Hyderabad gives Chonkers a run for the Blue Riband of global craphouses.

  10. Whenever these cunts talk about deprivation, the answer is alway to regenerate the town or city centre, the surrounding urban areas never get a look in.
    Large housing estates have always been problem areas because councils stick fucking rubbish in them, what is missing is tough policing, an absolute zero tolerance to antisocial behaviour.

    I remember the great Ashfield valley estate in Rochdale, built in the late 60’s , modern ideas, brutalist, European model, started off well but descended very quickly into a fucking shit hole, all now gone demolished.
    It’s so famous there was a documentary made about it 😂

    Deprivation in many cases is self inflicted, the answer is always give more free stuff and the cycle continues, before Covid we were at very low levels of unemployment even with all the east European who invaded over the last 10 years.
    Crack down on illegals, throw out cunts who aren’t British who are on benefits and make the cunts on benefits work for their money.

  11. Manchester was blitzed to fuck by Adolf’s boys during the war. It was also badly damaged by those Fenian fucks in 1996. But – Covid and gimmigrants aside – the city centre has improved. I think Manchester copped it more than Coventry and Portsmouth too.

    Blackpool is fucked because their annual influx of chavs and scum has decreased due to blue mink bat flu. Their army of Frank Gallaghers and Rab .C. Nesbitts aren’t coming this year for the illuminations and a punch up.

  13. Once decent, clean areas of Sheffield are now loppy, disguising crime ridden ghettos. Where I work (not much longer) Pitsmoor, is full of gypo’s. Crap thrown on the floor, needles and used jubbers all over, not one word of English spoken. “Immigration makes this country great”. No it doesn’t. We already have our own homegrown white trash without importing everybody else’s shite. “They’ve enriched our society”. No they haven’t. Every area of Sheffield that they have taken over, house prices have gone down and areas become rundown. The best example of this was a drug related murder at Sharrow at the weekend on the road where my Grandad and Grandma used to live. Once a white working class area now
    taken over by Asians, Gypos and god knows what else. Drug crime through the roof. None of this is because of WW2. This is because of the liberal elite who preach multiculturalism but don’t live with it every day. The country is now reaping what it sowed with its open door policy since the end of WW2 not because of WW2 itself.

      The Pomona was my local.
      Used to be a decent enough area back then.

      • Probably could have explained myself better. Like you say it sounds like I’m scapegoating immigrants but there also no go white areas in Sheffield. I know there are hard working immigrants, it’s just how over the past 20 odd years we let foreign criminals in without vetting that annoys me. They do give genuine hardworking immigrants a bad name.

  18. That talk of bombing. Imagine these days children and invalids in london were evacuated to the countryside. A brown paper tag attached to their clothes, a small suitcase with some clothes, books and a teddy. A box with a gas mask inside, hung on a string around their neck.
    Waiting nervously as the train traveled out of the city to safety.

Most of this had been bombed flat by an airborne EU redevelopment team, aiming for the then-thriving docks, in the 40’s, and nice new housing was being built, mostly council estates. Canning Town had never been, er, privileged. In 1857, for instance:

    The blitz probably improved the area’s prospects, as it did for much of Newham, as the surrounding area is now known. Regrettably for the nom, though, Newham’s level of ‘deprivation’, which only a cunt like me would ascribe to mass immigration rather than having been bombed and redeveloped, remains high.

    Deprivation is expected to be reduced in the gentrifying Silvertown sector, already showing traces of yuppie habitation (green) following the reinvention of the western docklands as a financial showpiece with fancy skyscrapers and stuff.

    Where are the improvements are coming from? Rich cunts wanting a pied-a-terre or investment property close to the London hub. Where’s the deprivation coming from?   24. Which school did she go to? It’s not the fact they were blitzed that’s the problem, it was at that time they were industrial. They are now post-industrial and once the industry went so did the jobs and in many places they weren’t replaced. That’s the problem.

    Can the same be said of Dresden?
    From Wikipedia: “Many of the industries that made Dresden rich before the Second World and disappeared under communism have resettled in the city including the optical industry and the high quality foodstuffs industries.”

    Can the same be said of Bremen? Yes! Highest unemployment rate in Germany and post industrial.
