After 15+ years of being a customer Microsoft without rhyme or reason have locked my account. Words escape me to describe my feelings. I have no access to any service, e mail etc. And it seems unlikely that It will be restored by these gigantic cunts entrusted to run Bill Gates old company. It appears that I am not alone in the boat and that people with far more money invested have been left out on a limb by the algorithms entrusted to run a once great company.

Evening WS – This here computer came with Windozy 8 but I have gone onto 10 (whilst it was a “freebie”). I know a lot of people have trouble with 10 but I have to say I’ve had no operating problems…
That said, all my Photoshop stuff is done on my bombproof old XP computer – no longer goes online and just happily does the business (with a mere 512mb of ram !!) Took it away from t’internet when, as with your v7, MS withdrew support for XP.

Can confirm that 10 is awful Willy. It looks awfully sterile – the taskbar especially – the start menu feels confusing and clunky and the neverending updates make the system run slower than the turning circle of a bus. At least, that’s just my experience anyway. I wish I had never taken the free upgrade all those years ago and I wish I hadn’t made the decision to get another Windows 10 laptop once that one broke.

Get a Mac Willie. Me and the wife have used them for over five years now (used to have a Vaio with Windows, forever having to wait for updates to upload) and not had a single problem (touch wood). No need for Norton etc, security is built in. Minimum of updates, cannot recommend them enough.

Mine won’t run 10, nor will the wife’s, so I’m moving them to 8.1. No way can I afford to replace 2 desktops and, apart from that, updates that don’t work are in the news regularly.

Windows 7 was the best version they ever made.
Stands to reason they’d fuck it off. Windows 10 updates and you have no choice in the matter. Some of the updates can seriously fuck things up. One of them was probably the reason I had to reinstall my OS again.
I’ve had other updates which stopped my charger working or lose my volume control. Another gave me a sign in screen which looked like a crashed screen (it wasn’t, some genius at MS made a screensaver that looks like your computer has crashed – it’s zig zag yellow, red and white lines but it’s an aerial shot of farmland and a van if you look really, really carefully).Therefore, make sure you don’t have your set up set to having random MS screensavers.
You’ll get used to shitting yourself booting up every time after an update (which you can’t stop, by the way).

You can download a piece of shareware called ‘XP Shell’.
I use it on my 8.1 system, to make it look like XP.
It’s not ideal, but at least it gives back the feel of the older windows versions.

I am repeatedly urged by many people who know much more about computers than I do to ditch Windows and adopt various versions of Linux, which is completely free. When I am not spending 90% of my waking life working, I do need to investigate this option. From what I have heard about Windows 10 it sounds more trouble than its worth.

Many offices I worked in had at least one woman (and it was always a woman) who would print out her fucking emails so she could ‘deal with them later’, clearly the concept of electronic escaped them.

In other news I have some Foxes that came aaaaht at night near my west country flat.
Am I cunt if I feed them? I threw them some bones from my Chinese BBQ ribs the other day so maybe I am.
Foxes perfectly represent the wild of British nature for me and I think they are nice animals, I even saw them hanging aaaaht with one of the local cats.

The rot started with Windows 7. Windows 7 was very good but does require a genuine license due to that UEFI crap. This meant I was stuck with Vista on my desktop until I “borrowed” a license key from a dead laptop. I had to upgrade the BIOS to the latest version to support UEFI.
I hate the tablet view on Windows 10, but you can install Classic Shell. I’m surprised Microsoft didn’t sue that guy.
Microsoft are sneaky bastards. Their Xbox store is a pile of shite as well. I accidently bought 2 of the same thing – no protection or nothing. I had to contact the game maker to get a refund. Useless cunts.

Windows 7 was Microsooft’s swansong. That was the last time they developed a rock solid, stable OS.
I have no choice but to use Windows 10 as the 3D/Rendering software I use requires it.
Haven’t had huge issues with it like some users have, just the very occasional BSOD and weird glitches which I’m sure are down to the OS as well.
I’d go down the Linux route in a heartbeat if I could.
