While we were busy fighting Napoleon, we had to dispatch an entire naval squadron to stop slave traders coming out of Africa. This cost 1500 British sailors their lives, while freeing over 150,000 African slaves.
The financial cost was so enormous the the British taxpayer finally paid off the debt in 2015. The debt was paid to rich landowners who bought and sold slaves like any other commodity.
Therefore, not only are the British taxpayers owed the amount of this debt from the jam spoons, but if the tea swiggers come looking for any reparations going forward, they need to go directly to the house of lords and demand money from them, as they would have been the rich landowners who had their ‘property’ confiscated.

It is has been estimated that 90% of the slaves involved in the Atlantic slave trade were already slaves before European involvement. Enslaved by other Africans and Arabs.
The dominant African type today, the bantu, practically wiped out the pygmy and khoisan peoples long ago having originated in western Africa and then spread throughout the continent.
The Arab-run African slave trade went on for far longer than the European equivalent and was far more barbaric. Great Britain banned slave trading across the world and committed men, ships and money to fighting it, often to the annoyance of Africans. All part of the white man’s burden which saw the British in particular raise standards of government, technology, medicine and decency throughout the world (in net terms).
Famous African slave owners are often celebrated in African countries today and you can find statues to them.
Europeans experienced significant levels of slavery, including within the British Isles. Middle Eastern peoples took large numbers of slaves from Eastern Europe, whilst North African pirates took large numbers from Western Europe. The people kidnapped, whatever happened to them? We don’t know but unlike the slaves who went to North America, there won’t have been any form of light at the end of the tunnel.
Slavery was practiced within Europe as well. The Romans and vikings took slaves, and perhaps all peoples from all times have. The tribes of ancient England fought and enslaved one another, as did the indigenous tribes of all corners of the world. 99% of us in the world today, maybe more, will have slave ancestors.
Only modern black people are demanding apologies and compensation, and are encouraged by certain white people to feel a sense of grievance and entitlement.
