Are you having a Laff ? 4.7% food inflation ? just more MSM rose coloured spectacle bullshit !

My own personal grocery shopping experience is that food prices have risen between 40 to over 100%.

Beef steak (not best) £30/kg
Beef roasting joint at £18/kg has now exceeded £17/kg for Lamb Leg
Whole Fresh Chicken £3 to £6/kg
Potatoes 50p to £1.20/kg

Now generally, I refuse to reward the larger money grabbing supermarket chains, only buying reductions after 5pm ;
Whole Chicken (dated that day) = £1/kg – cook it or freeze for later
Ready meals (luxury usually best reductions) £6 down to £2
Bread & Fresh fruit can be found reduced to less than 25% of original price.

We usually buy a 56lb sack of Potatoes from the Farm Shop at 23p/kg but are still using the leftover bags of Xmas spuds from Aldi (5p for 2.5 Kg)
We buy lots of 5p Xmas veg. Peel, parboil and bag for freezing they are cheap just requiring a bit of time & effort.

We no longer buy from the local chippy. I know we have the highest fuel & energy prices in Europe (3 x Germany) but some of these price increases are sheer greed. Cod at £11 I can sort of understand, but £4.50 for a bag of chips is expensive. £3 for curry sauce & 85p for one pickled onion is greed. Can of Cola @ £1.80 is dear given I can buy Carlsberg @ 52p, but what disgusts me is £3.20 for a 500ml bottle of water, that I can buy in a multipak for 18p.
