Not travellers, van dwellers

This is how people are living, they aren’t our lovable painted horse-drawn wagon folk, nor are they the top of the range SUV driving folk who park their caravans in your local Lidl car park, tap into the water/electric, nick everything that’s not nailed down within a mile radius, and fuck off before the police arrive.

No, these are people who are living in cars, vans, horseboxes, old removal vans, etc., because they can’t afford to rent!

However, they are still leaving the same amount of human waste and general debris, so what makes them different?

Well, they’ve mainly got jobs. They go to work, earn a wage, pay tax, etc., and are generally law abiding citizens.

Apparently, the number of folks living like this is so great the local council is looking for a proper site for them.

Great, Britain. We’re just building our first shanty town!

    • Bristol is far to fucking lefty.
I should know tis my hometown I’m ashamed to admit.
I used to be proud to be a bristolian but now it’s too lefty to woke and too multicultural!
      Diversity is our strength.
      Bollocks!!

  1. Dave Knight couldn’t afford rent on his 3 bed house, maybe a one bed flat could have been a better choice than a Van.

MNC could sublet his Van on days when it’s not involved in removals 👍

  2. Bristols always had people that lived in vans, buses and trucks.

Lots of those New age travellers were from Bristol.

Once I was down Somerset and there was a girl living in a horse box,
It was all kitted out and done really nice like a professional carpenter had done it.

    I could see the appeal.

    • Quite right Sammy. It all sounds rather fishy.

How can these folk have jobs when an employer has to inform HMRC of an employee’s address for tax and NI purposes?

      Black economy ‘jobs’ I expect.

      • Exactly so Geordie. Friend of mine spent a whole summer in the West Country working cash-in-hand when he needed more money, completely under the radar. Now with the rates of payroll tax the employer has an even greater incentive to employ people that way.

    • To a great extent a postal address is no longer needed Sammy. We get tons of junk through our letterbox but almost everything that matters is now done by email. you can have a PO box for paper mail and collect from the local post office. Bigger stuff can be sent to those boxes on the supermarket wall.

  3. This is how it begins.

Driven off their land by the barons. Stripped of their culture as well as their soil.

In a generation they’ll be talking incomprehensible gibberish and beating the bare-knuckle fuck out of each other.

    And stealing everything, obviously

  4. Probably see out my days in a basha in the woods. Oh the dreams of childhood, gone like last winters snows. Bastard fucking governments and apathetic people.

  5. And yet and yet and yet….

‘Asylum seekers’ Africans and other migrants get put in houses for free. With topped up gas, water and electric. And – as we know – they also get put into hotels, free of charge.

    • 100% valid point Norman! We spend a fortune to look after this fucking lazy uneducated unemployable superstitious flotsam and jetsam while leaving indigenous folks to live in vans and eat out of food banks. I pray that the politicians get a fucking good shafting today!

  6. Jack you bloody fibber!

Is that your caravan in the middle?

    The one covered in graffiti?

You told me you had an 8ft wide four-berth luxury touring caravan and a chemical toilet NASA would be proud of.

  7. Meanwhile the law was changed so mortgage providers don’t have to sell repossessed accommodation on the open market.

Who’s buying a lot of there’s houses? Blackrock. Who leases them from Blackrock? Serco. Who’s got a big contract with the government to
House asylum seekers? Yes of course serco, who owns shares in serco? Blackrock.

Outside of that serco are offering landlords 3 times monthly rent for their houses on a 5 year contract. Everything covered, maintenance, upgrades the lot.

Rent prices are going to rise even higher.

‘ The UK government has lifted the ban on processing asylum claims for individuals who arrive in the UK irregularly, effectively repealing the Illegal Migration Act. This decision follows a change in government after the Labour party won the UK general election in July 2024. The Illegal Migration Act, which was intended to deter irregular crossings, had previously made asylum claims inadmissible for those who arrived in the UK without authorization’

It’s not just access to housing being limited for the indigenous, it’s citizenship of our own country being degraded.

  8. LL@ Our Luxury Motorhome is far, far superior to those wheeled sheds in the header pic.

Your scurrilous allegation is a monumental slur, and you Sir, are a Cad and a Bounder.

    Needless to say, I’m outraged.

There’s a chap who doesn’t live too far from Bristol, who was a New Age Traveller ( I think ).

He has a YouTube channel… Maximus Ironthumper.

Really interesting, a clever Gentleman, very handy.

    I admire his maverick attitude.

    Good evening 👍

    You rotter.
