    • I thought about moving to Tristan de Cunha a few years ago. It’s slap-bang in the middle of Atlantic between Africa and Brazil. The deal killer is that you basically don’t have any internet access. The island has an internet cafe with slow speeds. If it ever gets the internet speeds we have here in the UK, I’d move there.     • We have just come back from a week near Scarborough, very pleasant, and heard that there had been a big rumpus in the Grand Hotel there, which has two floors taken up by migrants. I believe there was a bomb threat made and the whole lot were evacuated. Suspicion has naturally fallen on locals with a right wing set of mind, who would dislike the idea of having such people in their midst. What disturbed me though was that the hotel was also taking paying guests at the same time, unsurprisingly many of the paying guests were unhappy and wanted a refund, which they have been denied. Imagine how pissed off you would be if you arrived somewhere for a nice break and found all that waiting for you. I wonder if the hotel has to declare that it is host to migrants?. I shall certainly be asking that question the next time I book a hotel. Also what are the planning rules about this, as these hotels are effectively being turned into hostels? Brittania Hotels seem to be the main culprits so we must all boycott them now.

      • All Brittania Hotels are shit holes, They run one in Folkestone called the The Burstin which also had migrants shacked up, its a complete dump with a smell and look of a 1970’s cheap hotel without any love or maintenance since and useless herberts for staff, maybe that is the idea to make them think twice and ask to be returned to France with any luck.
