Our first colour telly (a Decca bought by my dad in 1970) lasted until 1989…. A telly used to be a piece of furniture: made of proper wood and glass, with an ornament or lamp put on the top of it…. Now we get these crappy plastic flat screen things…. The picture is shit, they are terrible to clean, and when the screen ‘leaks’ and there is streaks of blue/green ink/gunge/shit inside the screen… Tellys these days are substandard shite, and so are the shows that are on them…
The so-called digital miracle is overhyped, overrated turd…. More goes wrong now with a telly reception than it ever did with the old analogue signal… You name it: pixelated picture, pops and glitches in the sound, that BBC iPlayer is shite (it stops and starts like Norman Collier!), and of course no tests are done during downtime (because there is now crap on the box 24 hours a day!)… No kid with Bubbles the clown and the blackboard, so any potential faults go undetected…
In fact I would rather watch the Testcard than the crap that is in today…

You had a decca? that was the first tv set made if i’m not mistaken english made too ,decca also made records too i still have my rolling stone vinyl between the buttons still think its their best record to date although the song “Back Street Girl” always gave me the impression that the song was talking bout anal sex

My dad got a colour Decca TV for the World Cup in 1970… As you say, British made. That’s why it lasted 19 years… A more modern telly (with Ceefax and all that) was bought in the mid 80s, but I still prefered to watch the Decca (moved upstairs) and it still had a better picture…
‘Between The Buttons’ was probably Brian Jones at his peak… He made the Stones unlike any other band at that time… I also think ‘Satanic Majesties’ is unfairly panned… My auntie was a masive Stones fan, and although she still liked them in the 70s and 80s she always said ‘There were only five Stones’ meaning the 60s line up…

Yeah brian jones i would like to know who killed him there was alot of speculation that he was killed off by the band or someone close , he not only formed and managed the band from the get go but named the band and was the one of the only members to influence their sound he was good at arrangements and finishing touches upon the songs , i always had a feeling he was killed the stone name is worth millions and shortly after his death jagger only had bad things to say about him. Then again Brian was no saint he had 4 illegitimate kids with fans i think thats why mick hated him he got alot of pussy.

The whole digital TV switchover was about creating the smart grid, this smart grid will be used to monitor everything (even money when it goes digital like Bitcoin)
Bitcoin relies on 1 thing, hashing, which it requires a network for (it is essentially a base network protocol)
The reason the TV transmitters were upgraded to work with packed bitstreams is essentially the smart grid, a huge wi-fi network that will cover 99.9% of the homes on the planet, and of course our money was used to do this.
It was never about more channels, HD or even better picture quality, it was about implementing the smart grid.
