Who, I hear you ask, is Herbert fucking Ypma – and well might you ask. I came across him when I was renting a cottage for a weeks break and a couple of his pretentious shite books were lying around on the coffee table.
According to Amazon, Herbert is “a gifted photographer and a careful writer” best know for his series of books ‘Hip Hotels’. Seems he was schooled in Oz but there’s no truck to be had with precocious twats there so he fucked off to America (where else?) where he could be recognised for what he really is: a pretentious little cunt who likes to tell everyone how good he is.
Let’s face it, anyone who sucks up to pretentious little cunts has to be a pretentious little cunt himself, and Mr Ypma likes to do lots of that.
Check out one of his books. The photos are straight out of the marketing school of photography, and his ‘careful writing’ is far more effective than the finest emetic.

I’ll take your word for it D. He sounds exactly like the kind of far left, effete, pseudo intellectual, pretentious cunt I have a particular hatred of. Basically, Umpa, or whatever the fuck his name may be, is Will Self.
That reminds me, Will Self needs a cunting for going on some shite radio 4 show and slagging off George Orwell. Now I have to admit, Orwell isn’t one of my favourite writers. I prefer Science Fiction and Horror. However, Orwell made some interest points that are more true today than they were when he wrote those points down.
Self, seemed to think he was superior to Orwell. Though from what I’ve heard of Self over the years, I’m confident in claiming that Self isn’t even fit to lick dog shit from the soles of Orwell’s shoes. I haven’t actually read any of his written works, I just assume it’s a load of ultra left wing bollocks written by a self important, pseudo intellectual, former smack head. He has a face perfectly suited for sneering, and appears to look down on anyone who isn’t Will Self. Come to think of it, he also has a face that you’d be happy to suffer a fractured hand after repeatedly punching.

As a Photographer and lecturer in Photography, it is my informed opinon that Ypma is one of the talentless pretentious breed of “nouveau” photographers. Nothing in his work that is beyond the capabilities of a half decent amateur and his style is totally ripped off from that of Ansel Addams, Weston and Strand.
