Aston Villa were relegated from the Premier League yesterday and Lescott, who “plays” for Villa, apparently said this regarding their relegation, “Now it’s confirmed, maybe it’s a weight off the shoulders and we can give these fans what they deserve, some performances”.
What a fucking cunt! Have the players heroically not been giving performances in the dimwitted hope that the club would stay up? And now that it doesn’t matter are they thinking of actually winning a fucking match? Lescott, with the strangest hair line in all of the land, is no better or worse than the majority of football players these days. Like most I’m sure, I respect the sacrifices they make to achieve and retain peak physical conditioning, strict diets, long drawn out study of opposition and tactics and the endless rounds of media, community events, etc. However, to be paid tens of thousands of pounds a week does leave a bitter taste in the mouth, especially when they get that win, lose, draw or not even selected for match day. I don’t doubt that they all want to win each game and would prefer to do well than not, but sometimes their lack of effort and competence beggars belief. Just as managers can be sacked, I too feel footballers should also face the sack for persistent piss poor performance. The fact that never happens is a crime against sport, the game, the fans and the club the player represents. Unfortunately money has a habit of bringing out the worst in people and footballers are not immune. I guess we have Sky to thank for ruining the beautiful game.

I’m afraid that’s true of the vast majority of today’s players. Yes, they’ve obviously worked hard and sacrificed to reach the level of the Prem. However, the advent of agents, image rights, TV money, you name it has bred generations of mercenary cunts.
Sticking with the Manure theme, I found it absolutely reprehensible that the arch deacon of cuntitude Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently said he’d be willing to consider moving to Manure *IF* they get rid of LVG. Now we can debate the relative merits of this cunt’s footballing marketability and the managerial prowess of LVG, but for a professional footballer to come out and say that about another club and their manager was beyond poor. The saddest part of all was that it didn’t cause the storm that in years gone by it would have. That said, in years gone by players wouldn’t have said things like that.
